I have though about the awareness of the target audience while doing my magazine. I was aware that I had to meet my audience in several ways. The pictures, font style and colours all have to be used correctly to meet the target audience. The conventions have to be correct in passing my information through. The front cover, contents, and double page spread all have to have the conventions of my magazine that I said would go with the production.

I could of improved by meeting my deadlines better as some things I had to rush and some things do not look professional. The programmes I used were good as in phtoshop I could do whatever I wanted to make it look better. I also asked my teacher for help because I didn't understand the different tools I was using.

Evaluation No.6

I used many programmes and technologies to produce my work. I used Quark Express, Photoshop, Blogspot and a DSLR camera. I used various tools on the programmes I used like the magnetic lasso tool, clone stamp tool and changing fonts size, colour etc.. In Quark I used line spacing, margin lines and jabber which put example text in so I knew what it will look like.

I used blogspot for my posts on everything that I have done like my planning, production logs and my evaluation. Whatever I have done it's all on there. This has all my thoughts and all my productions on to show what I have done.

On the DSLR camera I used different photo options like portrait option or sport option. The camera has different options to take the photo in different environments. If I wasn't satisfied with the final picture I can make it better on Photoshop to edit the image. I can change the lighting effects, take out any zits etc..

Evaluation No.5

I felt I was successful in targeting my audience as I shown my moodboard to an audience and they recognised straight away that it was dance music that is played in clubs and people who like this music are people who like to go out on a regular basis.

The lifestyle profile of my audience was for people who go out to the clubs and listen to their favourite tunes and have a good time while getting drunk at the same time and wondering home at a very late hour. The magazine has preferred reading as the magazine was specific to the genre of the music. Other magazines show a whole range of music but the magazine produced was just one genre so the audience will read about Dubstep and only Dubstep.

Multi platform consumption was used because this is put on a number of technology and this is modern way of attracting your audience. More and more people use the internet and other technologies not just the traditional technology been used.

Evaluation No.4

Audience of my magazine: The audience would be for males and females and the age range around 16-25. The jicnar scale is used to see what level of people would be attracted to my magazine. It would be around C2 and possibly D. These are working class people and students. Students espcially would be the audience being targeted.

Demographics: Hedonists because they want life now and pay later. They want to live life to the full. This is like most people of the age group I am targeting. They would enjoy the clubbing lifestyle and have a life of freedom.

Psychographics: The audience as they seem themselves are radicals. They think themselves as an individual. They like to do things that they want to do and they have freedom when they go out as they wear want they want to wear and drink what they want to drink.

Evaluation No.3

I would use a independent distributor because this would be easier to get my magazine publicised. Frontline is such a big company it would be more difficult to get into the company. They are more flexible. Vice would be a suitable distributor as they use multi platform strategy. They distribute in many areas that would suit my audience of my magazine. They distribute in fashion shops and DVD's.

Media 2.0 is useful for my target audience as many of the followers that would like the magazine would use Facebook or Myspace.

Viral marketing is a strategy that I would use as this encourages people to send links to their friends because they like it. This makes good publicity.

Evaluation No.2

In my magazine I have hit a particular social group. I have represented men and women. The social class is working class and middle class. The main ethnic group is white as most of the DJ's of dubstep are white and the people who you see go to nightclubs are mainly white people.

Magazine Double Page Spread

Monday, 1 March 2010

Evaluation No.1

My masthead is conventional like other magazines as it is big title at the top of the page stretching across the page as well. Here my masthead is a conventional one like other magazines: like Mojo magazine where the masthead is similar to my own magazine. This is the same with many others. The genre is for people who like Dubstep magazines. There not many Dubstep magazines that are around at is difficult to compare but it is very similar to magazines like Mixmag magazine which is a form of a dance magazine. The font is a sans serif font as it fits well with the magazine. Serif font would not go with the genre of the music as it is not similar to music like classical music. In the classic FM magazine the font is serif which shows how the music is posh and artistic and that it what a stereotype is put under classical music.

Magazine Front Cover

Thursday, 11 February 2010

Production Log 5

I have put in two lines either side of the double page spread. These are quite thick lines and they separate the page well to make it clear of eho you should read the text.

Production Log 4

I used speech in my reviews for my double page spread. This makes it less boring as there is someting jumping out of the text. The text ios running around the speech so that it doesn't overlap with each other.

Production Log 3

I decied to make the tiltes on the double page spread slanted as this gives a good effect on the genre of the music. This gives and rough effect on the page and lins the content with Dubstep music as it is seen as rough music.

Production Log 2

I have put the front cover as a image on the contents page because I have seen other magazines do the same with information about the publishing etc...

Production Log

This is my contents page and I decided to do something different by showing what's on the free CD. I looked at various magazines and only a few showed this and I decided to use this in a size 7 font as it is not as big and eye drwaing as the other text.

Sketches and Ideas

Sketch and intial ideas for front cover of Dunstep magazine.

Also a sketch of ideas for my contents page for the production of the Dubstep magazine.

Audience feedback: good ideas: the font can be effective when quite rough as this is informal so people feel they can relate to it more. Also talking about the content of the magazine on its cover can persuade people to buy it, and the stand-out colours talked about can also catch the readers attention.Possible bad ideas: not really many i can think of but little things like maybe more images on the front that arent talked about on the plan

Time Plan

In the production work firstly, I will start to make the front cover of my magazine. I will collect pictures for my magazine and choose fonts that suit the magazine. I will see what colours work well and what fonts go with the genre of the music. This will take between 1-2 weeks.

This will be the same for the contents page which I will do in the second week. I will sort out what structure I will use for the contents like the fonts, size of text and what content I will put in. I will choose what layout I want like a 2 way, 3 way or 4 way column. This will take about 1 week to complete.

Finally the double page spread is the final thing i will do. This is where I will fill, the pages with content that I have planned to put in like the latest music, Dj's and clubs etc... The double page spread I will think about the font, colour and what pictures I will use and all these will be suitable for the type of music genre that I have done. This will take about 1-2 weeks to complete as it is a main part of the production.

The final days of the production is to make the finishing touches, go over what I have done and fill in any mistakes that I have made. The final week is important as I can fine tune and make finalise the magazine to the best standard. The deadline for the production of the magazine is the 12th of February.

Initial ideas onto Moodboard.

Detailing the audience for my Dubstep magazine.

Audience Feedback:

Very sharp eye catchy colours used with most images, along with quite bold images, so nothing boring. Images tell you quite obviously the genre of music you are trying to get across as well. Some images, although bold, are quite dark and not as easy to make out so possibly add some lighter colours than this. Also try some more text, different types to see which one your overall audience agrees with
